Colorado Buffaloes at Washington Huskies
Colorado: This has been a good year to be a Colorado football fan. They finished 10-2, Mike MacIntrye is a coach of the year candidate (he has my vote) and they ended the regular season with six straight wins and their only loss in the conference was to USC. They won a hard fought game against Utah this past weekend. So, what’s made them so successful this year? It starts with their quarterback, Sefo Liufau. He’s a guy that can throw it from the pocket and he can also run with the football. He can move the chains very efficiently. Their defense hasn’t been too bad either. In their finale against Utah, they recorded a total of four turnovers and in the five times Utah reached the red zone, they scored only once. They’ve undergone a huge transformation from last year to this year. This was a 1-8 football team in 2015 and now, they are in the conference title game.
Washington: They’ve been such a well-rounded football team this year and the minute I saw them take the field against Stanford and dismantle the favorites to come out the Pac-12 and ever since then, I’ve been sold on them. Chris Petersen has done a fantastic job with this team. Jake Browning has put together a very solid all around season and when he’s on his game, he’s very difficult to slow down because once he’s in a rhythm, he stays in a rhythm. The sophomore lit up Washington State and finished this season with 40 touchdown passes and 65 percent of his passes completed. Outside of Jake, you also have a really good tandem of running backs in Myles Gaskin and Lavon Coleman and both can get you over 50 yards if possible. They are still on the outside looking in to be a potential playoff team.
Colorado Player To Watch: Phillip Lindsay– We can almost say they don’t have any weaknesses. They have a good defense, they balance it out on offense and finally, a large crowd will be able to see what this guy is capable of doing. You better have game if you have two first names.
Washington Player To Watch: Jake Browning– This will be a much tougher defense he’ll be facing this time around than what he’s seen all year long. If he takes care of the ball and does what he’s been doing all year, he’ll be just fine.
Prediction: Both teams have done great this year especially Colorado and this was something that none of us saw coming. I just think Washington has a little too much firepower on their side and that’s why I’m picking them to win this game. Washington 35 Colorado 27
