Intriguing Game- Week 11
Baltimore Ravens (5-4) at Dallas Cowboys (8-1)
Ravens: It’s been an up and down year for the Ravens. They got off to that fast 3-0 start, then they dropped four in a row and are now sitting in first place in their division and right now, I think they are the favorites to win the AFC North and here’s why. The favorites, the Steelers are in a funk of their own and Ben isn’t 100 percent he rushed back too soon and it’s hurting the team and the Bengals just aren’t the same team they were after losing some guys on that offense such as Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu. The Ravens defense is once again at the top of the rankings and they’ve improved drastically in the secondary which has been their biggest issue over the past two or three seasons and they’ve limited some good offenses this season, look at what they did to the Steelers a few weeks ago. This is the stretch run for them and they’ll face a Cowboys team who is simply rolling right now and hasn’t lost a game since week one.
Cowboys: Remember during the Summer when I said they would struggle without Tony Romo especially with the way they looked last year without him under center? I couldn’t have been any more wrong. Ever since that opening loss to the Giants, the Cowboys have been on a major tear. Eight wins in a row and now the holders of the best record in the NFL today and a few of those wins have come over Green Bay and Pittsburgh on the road and a very impressive comeback win over the Eagles a few Sundays ago. Their offense is so unpredictable because you don’t know who’s going to step it up. It could be Dez, Witten, Beasley and that’s what keeps a defense on its toes. However, there’s one thing I’m worried about with them and that’s their defense and I can truthfully sit here and say that they aren’t built to advance in January with this defense. They give up way too many home run plays and they depend on the front seven to do everything along with not really having a pass rush and you need to be able to pressure the quarterback in the playoffs. With a win on Sunday, the Cowboys will be victorious for the ninth time in a row.
Ravens Player To Watch: Joe Flacco– He’s been very up and down this year. What Flacco will we see? Will the below average Joe show up or will it be Joe who can step up when he needs too? The Cowboys secondary is beatable and the gameplan will be to get Wallace, Smith and the tight ends going early to set the tone of the game in your favor.
Cowboys Player To Watch: The Great Wall Of Dallas– This is the best offensive line in the NFL by far. You name it, they can do it. They can pull, open holes and just control the line of scrimmage along with winning that war in the trenches. Baltimore has a very solid front four that will bring it early and often.
Prediction: This is a big game for the Ravens. They have a lot to play for especially with both Pittsburgh and the Bengals looking up to them. The Cowboys are dealing with the injury bug. I like the Ravens to win this one on the road. Ravens 20 Cowboys 17
