Intriguing Game- Week Ten
Green Bay Packers (4-4) at Tennessee Titans (4-5)
Packers: We’ve heard the question all week: What’s wrong with the Green Bay Packers? It’s a lot and I can sit here and tell you that they’re in some trouble. They’ve lost two games in a row and three out of their last four. With an offense that has a guy like Aaron Rodgers and with Jordy Nelson healthy, you would think they’d be at the top of the league, right? Wrong. This year, they are ranked 16th overall in offense. I thought they looked lost at times offensively last season and I see a lot of what took place last year. Their receivers seem to have trouble getting open and as I said on Monday, Aaron Rodgers has an enormous amount of pressure on him and feels he needs to do it all because of the lack of help around him. You know something isn’t right when your leading rusher is a wide receiver and they’ve had no choice but to put Ty Montgomery back there because Lacy and Starks are both out with injuries. I’ve been impressed with their defense this year. They are ranked seventh in the league overall and they’ve been one of the best at stopping the run for the most part. This is a big game for them on Sunday. You win, you’re a game above .500 and hopefully, you can gain some ground in your division considering you’re in third place.
Titans: When so many of the experts made their predictions, a lot of people had the Tennessee Titans finishing in dead last in the AFC South and they were still a few years away from being relevant again. Here we are entering the tenth week of the season and the Titans are 4-5 in a tie for second place with the Indianapolis Colts in their division. What’s really impressed me has been the play of Marcus Mariota. There have been signs of growth in his performance this season and as any young quarterback does, he’s had his up and down moments but he’s a true star in the making. The biggest blessing to this offense has been DeMarco Murray and he finally looks like the guy we saw have a breakout season in 2014 with the Dallas Cowboys and he’s finally being used the right way. He’s a back that loves to run in between the tackles and get those additional yards in open space. When he was with the Eagles, he was running more east and west than he was north and south. He has also provided the help that Mariota needs. Brian Orakpo has also put together a nice season and has been hands down the best player on the defense. In the first six games, he recorded seven sacks. After the tough loss in San Diego, the Titans return home for a battle with Rodgers and the struggling Packers.
Packers Player To Watch: Randall Cobb– He’s been inconsistent at time and it’s hard to say what he will do on the field each week because you never know. Last week against the Colts, he only caught two passes and one was for a touchdown. The Packers need to make it more of an effort to get him involved more because when he’s at the top of his game, he’s extremely difficult to stop.
Titans Player To Watch: Delanie Walker– The Packers are down three guys in the secondary including Damarious Randall who’s a safety but can cover and he’s been known to defend tight ends. I look for Mariota to get Walker the ball quite often and force the Packers to put safeties on him.
Prediction: This game could go either way. With the Packers down on running backs and struggling in that aspect of the game, the Titans have the edge and they’ll control the clock. I like the Titans in this one. Titans 24 Packers 20.
