10. Luke Kuechly– Here we are once again for the fifth straight year to begin The Daily Blitz’s annual ten best players list and coming into the season, this is one of my favorite things to do for you all. Let’s get started with the first guy featured on the list. The linebacker position has always been one of the most talked about positions in the game of football and some of the best players in the history of the game have played the position. Mike Singletary, Jack Lambert, Lawrence Taylor and Ray Lewis are a few and if he continues to play at the level he’s been performing at, Luke Kuechly can become an all time great as well. He kicks off the 2016 edition of the ten best players list and he’s one of four newcomers on this year’s list. He’s the quintessential and consonant linebacker. He’s smart, he’s tough and when you watch the Panthers defense on the field, he’s all over and that’s what I call a true ballhawking linebacker. He plays with great instinct and most linebackers at times will sit back in traffic and let the ball-carrier come to them, but that isn’t Luke at all. He’s fast enough to chop his way through traffic, he can shed blocks and has the speed to close in and get to the football. I’l never forget the best performance of his career. It was a 2013 game against the New Orleans Saints and the division was on the line. He recorded 24 tackles and one interception and that led him to the defensive player of the year. Ever since he was drafted in 2012, he’s had an immediate impact on the Panthers defense that has been considered one of the best in the league over the last four years.
