There were so many speculations about the Bears not bringing back Matt Forte after the 2015 season and the Bears announced that they would not be resigning him. It’s tough but this is also a business and they felt this was best for the team moving forward and they also have a running back that came onto the scene last year named Jeremy Langford. There were so many potential landing spots. He was linked to the Patriots and I felt that was a perfect spot for him. They love checking the ball to those backs in open space and Forte is one of the best receiving backs in the league. The Packers wanted his services and Dallas was rumored to get in on him as well. He decided to sign with the New York Jets as he begins the next chapter in his football career.
When I think of great all around running backs, Matt Forte comes to the top of the list. He’s a guy that can get in between the tackles, bounce outside and as a defense you have to worry about him as a receiver out the backfield. The Jets lost a good running back in Chris Ivory and are replacing him with a better option in Forte. He fits the scheme of the Jets and what Todd Bowles wants to do. Matt has been a model of consistency during his tenure in Chicago and the offense was basically centered around him. Now, he comes into a situation where he’s reunited with Brandon Marshall and will team up with Eric Decker. The Jets now have a three-headed monster on the offensive side of the ball. They made moves in the offseason last year and have started this free agency period with a bang as well.
