AFC Game Of The Week
Jets (10-5) at Bills (7-8)
Jets: They’ve won five games in a row for the first time since 2010, the last year they made the playoffs. Last week was as quality of a win as it gets, over a team that’s been a thorn in your side the last few seasons. I’ve been impressed with the Jets this year. They’ve bought into Todd Bowles and they still have the same identity with a little bit more added. The defense was a big strength especially with Bowles being a defensive minded guy but the offense has been a strongpoint as well especially with Decker and Marshall handling business the way they have all year-long. The scenario is pretty simple if you ask me. If the Jets win or the Steelers lose, they will be the sixth seed in the AFC playoff picture.
Bills: Coming into the year, many thought this would be the biggest threat to the Patriots in the division and it looked that way for a little bit, but they were too inconsistent for my liking throughout the year. We all thought the strength would be the defense and they ranked 20th in the league this year. Their offense definitely carried them. Rex Ryan made the right decision by deciding to choose Tyrod Taylor as his starting quarterback. I really enjoyed watching him play this year and he and Watkins can be a duo to watch for years to come. Shady didn’t have too bad of a season after being acquired from the Eagles. The talent is there for the Bills to win and get to the playoffs, but that won’t happen this year. This will be the 16th straight season Buffalo will miss the playoffs.
Prediction: This situation couldn’t present itself any better for Rex and company. They have a chance to be a spoiler and there’s nothing more he wants than to eliminate his old team from playoff contention. The big key for the Bills will be to start off early and move the ball down the field and attack any part of the field will Cromartie is lined up. The Jets can’t lose focus. There’s still something to play for. I like the Bills in this one. Bills 20 Jets 17
