NFC Game Of The Week
Cardinals (11-2) at Eagles (6-7)
Cardinals: We’ve all talked about what Carolina has done and their 17 straight wins dating back to last season, how the Seahawks are playing their best football at the right time and what the Steelers are doing. All that is impressive, but the Arizona Cardinals are quietly going about their business. They have won seven games in a row and don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Bruce Arians has turned this team into a powerhouse in the NFL and he’s also become one of the five best head coaches in the league. He’s a players coach and his guys would go all out for him on the field. I stated on the air that there were two teams that could beat the Panthers in the playoffs. The Seahawks were one of them and these Arizona Cardinals were the other. Sunday, they begin a stretch of three tough games to close out the regular season. Philly on Sunday night, the Packers next Sunday and that could determine who gets the two seed in the NFC and in week 17, they host Seattle.
Eagles: After giving up a total of 90 points in a two-game span, everybody just decided to throw the towel in on the Eagles and their season which seemed to be a nightmare at the time and Chip Kelly was all but gone. After two straight wins, the Eagles sit at 6-7 in that awful NFC East and that win against the Patriots could propel them moving forward. They have a lot of confidence right now. Sam Bradford looks a lot more comfortable in this offensive system, he’s taking shots down the field to his receivers and being aggressive and their defense isn’t necessarily the greatest, but they can get a takeaway when they need it. They’re in a first place tie in the division and this is my pick to win the NFC East as of now. Just like their opponent on Sunday night, they close the 2015 season out with three tough games of their own. The red-hot Cardinals come to town on Sunday night, they face the Redskins next week in a pivotal division game and the East could be on the line when they face the Giants in week 17.
Prediction: The Eagles defense will have to fix all the mental lapses with this offense coming to town. One mistake and it could easily turn into six points. A lot of pressure will be on this defensive line. They have to get a pass rush going or it will be a very long night for the Eagles. If they can get to Palmer and get him off his rhythm early on and control the tempo of the game, they’ll be in good shape. For Arizona, the offensive line will need to keep Carson Palmer protected for a great period of time in order for him to make the vertical passing game work. I like the Eagles at home in this one.
