Intriguing Game- Week 13
Jets (6-5) at Giants (5-6)
Jets: I was really raving about this team at the beginning of the year because it looked as if they had finally fixed their problems and were looking to reestablish an identity after some years of struggling under Rex Ryan. Chris Ivory was simply one of the major reasons why the Jets were winning football games. Now, it seems as if they’ve turned away from running the football because they’re trying to let Ryan Fitzpatrick take over games and he’s not that type of quarterback. Their defense hasn’t looked the same either. The Houston Texans simply had their way with the Jets secondary, especially in Revis’ direction. The Jets are one of five teams in the AFC sitting at 6-5 and on the outside looking in of the AFC playoff picture.
Giants: They were such a disappointment on Sunday for many reasons. One, they couldn’t take care of the football at all. Eli Manning threw three interceptions. Two, they struggled to get any type of pass rush and pressure on Kirk Cousins so he had all day to throw and lastly, with a win the Giants could easily be in the driver’s seat of a very inconsistent NFC East but now, they’re looking up to the Washington Redskins in the NFC East. They need to play better all around. The offensive line has to do their jobs up front, Eli needs to take better care of the football and the defense has to all be on the same page. No more missed gap assignments, miscommunications in the secondary and not giving up the big play down the field.
Prediction: We would have been in for a heavyweight battle on Sunday. Darrelle Revis and Odell Beckham Jr. The biggest key for the Giants will be to get their pass rush going and stopping the run, something they’ve been good at all season long. The Jets can’t let Odell get into a rhythm early on. I like the Jets in this one. Jets 28 Giants 24
