(3) Oklahoma at (9) Oklahoma State
Oklahoma: A few weeks ago, I was asked who’d fill out my bracket for the College Football Playoff and originally, my first answer was Notre Dame then I had to pause and change my answer to these Oklahoma Sooners. I’ve been very impressed with this team. They can run the ball and they have a great back that can do it all in Samaje Perine, a very solid wide receiver by the name of Sterling Shepard and Baker Mayfield under center. They also have the best defense in the Big-12 as well. A few weeks ago in Waco, they shut down a prolific Baylor offense. They slowed the game down, they forced then starting quarterback Stidham to beat them in other ways besides trying to make the home run plays down the field and they established the tempo in their favor. Tonight will settle everything. The Bedlam Game. Stillwater.
Oklahoma State: They’ve been a very good team all year in a very competitive conference in college football. They’ve been one of the few teams to use the two quarterback system all year and they’ve had some success with it. The star of this team is receiver James Washington. He’s a guy that can line up outside and in the slot and he’s a playmaker that goes up and gets the football. He just doesn’t let it come to him. Last week was a huge game with Baylor in town and they were defeating giving them their first loss of the season. You put that behind you and you look ahead to the next week. It has all come down to this. A rivalry game and if you win it, you have a very good chance at making the CFP. It’s the Sooners of Oklahoma coming to town tonight.
Prediction: There’s a lot on the line here. A primetime game under the lights and whoever wins will be the champion of the conference. Oklahoma needs Mayfield under center tonight. They looked lost without him in the second half of that win against TCU. OK State must limit Perine and Shepard and keep Mayfield in the pocket at all times. I like Oklahoma in this one.
