Intriguing Game-Week Eight
Dolphins (3-3) at Patriots (6-0)
Dolphins: They’ve been a much different team in their last two games than what we saw in the first four games of the season. All they needed was a change and firing Joe Philbin was the best thing they could’ve done and I know a lot of people aren’t fond of making a coaching change in season but this move had to be done because they weren’t a productive football team under him. Let’s now meet Dan Campbell. He’s a fiery guy that gets the best out of his players and they’ve all responded to him. A new coach is very similar to a salesperson. They have to sell a new product to the player then the player buys into it. The Dolphins have looked like the team we’ve expected them to be. A physical and smash-mouth team. They dominated Tennessee and were close to perfect against Houston last Sunday. Now, it’s a test with a team they’ve given some fits to over the years in New England.
Patriots: If you ask me, they were exposed a little bit more against the Jets last week. Tom Brady was pressured quite often last week but in typical Patriot form, they made the necessary adjustments in the second half. I was asked last week if I had to choose between this Patriots team and the 2007 team that completed a perfect 16-0 record, I’m taking the 07 team. The offense was a threat everytime they stepped out on the field and what separates the two is their defense. That 07 team had a defense that prevented a lot of things from happening on the field and this Patriots defense this year is definitely a work in progress after losing those key pieces from a championship team. With a win tonight, they would be 7-0 for the first time since 2007 and that would match their best start in team history.
Prediction: The Dolphins have played New England tough over the years but it’s more so in Miami than in Foxboro. Getting a pass rush on Brady will be very key. This is why Suh was signed, for games like this. The Patriots have to take Jarvis Landry away and make Tannehill beat them with someone else. I like the Patriots in this one. Patriots 26 Dolphins 17
