(15) Ole Miss at (2) Alabama
Ole Miss: I like this team and it starts with the head coach. Hugh Freeze has done a tremendous job with this football team. Let’s look at the stats, shall we? This Rebels offense is video game esqe. They move the football down the field with consistency and such efficiency. Check this out. In two games so far this season, their offense is averaging 74 points a game. Scoring is no issue for them whatsoever. Besides their offense, the defense isn’t too bad either. On that side of the football, they’re giving up only 12 points a game and they also have one of my favorite defensive players in the country and his name is Robert Nkemdiche. He’s a top five pick whenever he enters the NFL draft and he’s so disruptive up front on the defensive line. This offense will look to keep up the pace they’ve been on tonight in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama: They are off to another quick start. This maybe the most potent I’ve seen their offense in a while because when you think of an Alabama Crimson Tide football team, they like to run the ball, dominate you up front with their offensive line and play defense. They’re averaging 36 points a game and the defense is giving up only 13 a game. They will always be amongst the top five in defense from a statistical standpoint but their biggest struggle this year has been defending the pass. They have given up a lot of big plays down the field this year and teams are taking note of that. Giving up almost 200 yards a game passing isn’t necessarily the easiest thing to ignore. This is a big game for the Tide as they face the only team that defeated them in the regular season last year.
Prediction: It’s another big SEC showdown. We could be in for an offensive explosion as both teams have dominated on both sides of the football. Bama has had this game circled on their calendars for a while. You don’t forget a loss especially a close one like that. The Rebels will come out and attack Alabama’s secondary early and often. Alabama has to get some pressure on Chad Kelly. I like Bama tonight in this one. Alabama 45 Ole Miss 28.
