NFC Game Of The Week
Cowboys (1-0) at Eagles (0-1)
Cowboys: Tony Romo really came through when his team needed him too and I couldn’t be anymore impressed with him in that final drive against the Giants on Sunday night. Without a consistent running game there, he’ll have to throw the football more than 40 times for them to win games. With Dez Bryant gone for a long period of time because of his broken foot, Romo will carry this team on his shoulders and Jason Witten and Terrance Williams will be his two go to targets down the field. The defense is vulnerable in the secondary especially without Orlando Scandrick who’s their best player. It’s another week against a divisional rival once again.
Eagles: I watched that entire Monday night game and the one thing I will say I took away from the Eagles was the performance of their defense. The front seven was aggressive, they got pressure on Matt Ryan and they made tackles in the open field. The secondary though is what hurt them especially Byron Maxwell giving up so many big plays to Julio Jones down the field. Offensively, they struggled to get into a rhythm but got comfortable as the game went along. Murray got his touches, Bradford if he can stay healthy will be a factor for the Eagles and the receivers made plays. With Dez down, many people feel this is the team to beat in the NFC East and I wouldn’t go that far. It’s the team that they’re facing on Sunday at home.
Prediction: The Cowboys have owned the Eagles as of late especially in Philadelphia. DeMarco Murray will be extremely motivated playing in this game as he’s facing the team that decided not to bring him back for the first time since signing with the Eagles. The Cowboys will need to use Witten over the middle often as the Eagles struggle to defend the tight end. The Eagles have to prevent Romo from extending plays. I like the Cowboys in this one.
