With football, it’s more than a 50 percent chance that you’re going to get hurt. It’s one of those things where you definitely have to expect the unexpected. Terrell Suggs had to find out the hard way on Sunday in Denver and after just one game, he’s done for the year with a torn Achilles’ tendon, his second injury in the last three seasons.
This is a tough loss for the Ravens moving forward. He’s not the same guy he was a few years back but since Ray Lewis retired, he’s become the unquestioned leader of the Ravens defense and Elvis Dumervil has become their best player. Yes it’s a tough loss but I think they will still be able to prevail and have other guys step up. Even without his leadership, they still have a crafty veteran in Darryl Smith to anchor that front seven and with Dumervil still getting pressure on the quarterback, they will still be a good defense.
The key for the Ravens will be a healthy secondary, which was absolutely terrible last year across the board.
