AFC Game Of The Week
Ravens (8-7) at Bengals (10-5)
Ravens: I could never really figure out this football team this season. They struggled early on and then we all thought they had found their rhythm when they put together a winning streak they put them back in the hunt for the playoffs. They had to grind out a win against the Lions two weeks ago then they were embarrassed by the Patriots last week so I am still very uncertain about them as we approach week 17. The defense has outperformed the offense considering all the players this defense lost in the offseason. Their offense has been inconsistent and has struggled to generate any type of production. For them to get to the playoffs, the Ravens need to win and have the Dolphins, Chargers and Steelers all lose.
Bengals: This was my pick to win the AFC North all along. I couldn’t figure out the Steelers (though they are starting to catch on now) and we didn’t know what Ravens team we’d see after them losing so many pieces so this was the Bengals chance to shine and they’ve done so. They have a nice offensive nucleus that can score points. A.J. has emerged as an elite receiver today and they have a solid running back in Giovanni Bernard. This defense has been one of the best units in the league as well and they’ve still played well even without their best defensive players in Geno Atkins. Seeding has yet to be figured out in AFC. The Bengals could have a first round bye believe it or not with a win and New England and Indy losing.
Prediction: Another regular season finale with a lot on the line. Since John Harbaugh became the Ravens head coach, he’s made the playoffs every year and has won a playoff game which is pretty impressive. The Bengals want to close out 2013 with a win. I like the Bengals in this one. Bengals 24 Ravens 14
