NFC Game Of The Week
Panthers (5-3) at 49ers (6-2)
Panthers: This maybe the best the Panthers have looked since 2008 and that was the last time they made the playoffs. The keys to success for this team are totally in the hands of Cam Newton. They will go as far as he takes them and he’s been questioned on the field as a player and is he a leader? The Panthers have established a running game to take pressure off Cam and I think that’s been the biggest improvement with their offense. Believe it or not, they also have a defense that ranks in the top five and that’s expected especially with one of the better defensive minded guys in the league in Ron Rivera. We are about to see who this team really is in the next few weeks. Their schedule isn’t the easiest.
49ers: When speaking about the NFC this year, everybody has discussed the Seahawks and Saints and rightfully so because those teams have had great seasons. Let’s not forget about the 49ers though. After all, they did come out the NFC last year and you still have to defeat them to get to East Rutherford. San Fran struggled some at the beginning of the season. Since then, they’ve won four games in a row and I like what they’ve done. They’ve gone back to running the football which has been one of the keys to their success along with playing physical and disciplined defense. They aren’t depending on Kaepernick to win games for them because he’s not a guy who will always drop back in that pocket 25-30 times a game. The 49ers will look to keep streaking on Sunday with the Panthers coming to town.
Prediction: This is a match-up of two of the up and coming quarterbacks in the game today. Cam Newton and Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers are getting an even bigger boost on their defense with Aldon Smith coming back. He will bring that pass rush and draw a lot of double teams. I like the Niners to keep rolling. 49ers 27 Panthers 16
