NFC Game Of The Week
Bears (4-3) at Packers (5-2)
Bears– I am still trying to figure out who this Bears team really is. They got off to a great start at 3-0 and everything seemed to be clicking for the Bears. The offensive line was protecting Cutler a lot better than in recent years, Cutler was spreading the football around to everyone other than Brandon Marshall and the defense was doing its usual. Now, the offense isn’t starting early and the defense which is usually the strongpoint of this team is struggling and that’s not like the Bears. These cornerbacks are playing man to man coverage when they are built to play a zone defense in that secondary and teams have attacked them in the back part of the defense. They have no pass rush and they miss tackles in the open field. For them to stay in the division race, they need this game against the Packers.
Packers– I’ve been so impressed with this team as of late. In the NFC, all we’ve heard about is the Seahawks and Saints and their fantastic starts. The Packers have won four in a row and are 5-2 atop the NFC North. They are quietly going about their business and sometimes that’s the way to do it. What’s stood out the most about them is the fact they’re winning games without key guys on the field. James Jones is out with a leg injury and he’s a threat on the outside. Finley is gone with a spinal injury and he’s key in pass blocking situations and working them middle and seams, Randall Cobb is out with a broken leg and he’s their most versatile player and Clay is gone on defense but they’ve held their own. Eddie Lacy has given the Packers the balance they’ve needed and the defense is playing better than expected. They’ll look to win their fifth in a row.
Prediction– The Bears haven’t won at Lambeau since the 2007 season, that’s when some guy named Brett was still the quarterback for Green Bay. The Bears have to take away Jordy Nelson for a chance to win this game and use Matt Forte often to keep Aaron on the sideline. The Packers secondary isn’t the greatest but they’ll need to be with Marshall coming to town. I like the Packers to keep rolling. Packers 35 Bears 24
