AFC Game Of The Week
Jets (4-3) at Bengals (5-2)
Jets: I think we all expected the Jets to not be that good of a team. They’re 4-3 and with the half-way mark of the season approaching they could be in the thick of a playoff race as we get set for the second half of the season. They have two very impressive wins. They beat an expected powerhouse in the Falcons and they needed overtime to get past the Patriots and after beating a team like New England will give you momentum moving forward. The Jets defense is back after a sub par 2012 effort. They have a great front seven that puts pressure on the quarterback. This defense is coming off a game where they held Tom Brady without a touchdown pass. This Sunday will be another tough task, facing a Bengals team that is in first place in their division.
Bengals: The Bengals are the team I expected them to be. In the off-season, I predicted that they’d get off to a good start and here they are at 5-2 atop a division where the Steelers and Ravens have dominated. The Bengals have a good enough offense to win games. Andy Dalton is an average quarterback who has led the Bengals to winning seasons since being drafted in 2011. A.J. Green has established himself as a top five wide receiver in our game and has improved so much since coming into the league. What’s really been the talk of this team is the defense. They have a solid pass rush and a good secondary that can make plays on its own. The defense took a hit after losing Leon Hall to a torn Achilles. It’ll be a good one on Sunday with gang green coming to town.
Prediction: These are two of the better defenses in the league today and that’s what this game will come down too. The Jets have to force Andy Dalton to get the ball to another receiver other than A.J. to beat them along with having the Bengals hand the ball off. I like the Jets to get a W in Cincinnati.
