What a year it’s been for Joe Flacco. Last offseason, he makes a statement saying he’s the best Quarterback in the National Football League and we all laughed at him and thought he was crazy for saying that. Nothing wrong with being confident but don’t go overboard. He’s coming off a postseason performance to remember. Flacco threw 11 touchdown passes and no picks and led the Ravens to their second Super Bowl title in franchise history. One more question remained: Would he be franchised or would he get a long term deal that he’s been seeking? Yesterday, the Ravens and Flacco agreed to a deal that would make him the highest paid Quarterback in league history. The deal that was reached was a 6 year/$120 Million deal which means he will make $20 Million over this span. I feel that he’s a good Quarterback, a servicable Quarterback, a guy that won’t shy away from the big moment as he showed us all he’s capable of putting his team in the best position to win but I’m not sure if he’s done enough to earn the type of money that some of the elite guys aren’t even getting today. Flacco has entered my list of top ten Quarterback but there are still a few others that I’d take before him at this point today. A $120 Million deal is certainly a lot to give to a guy who has been up and down in his career except for this past season. He hasn’t done enough to earn that type of money. I’m not saying that he didn’t deserve the contract extension, that was well deserved but the funds he’ll be receiving over this 6 year span was a little extreme.
